Welcome to the Thundering Hooves

The California Gymkhana Association (CGA), District 23 Thundering Hooves is  based out of the Ridgecrest, California, and encompasses the China Lake, Inyokern, and Trona communities and regularly draws riders from the Kern River Valley, and the Owens Valley for the gymkhana shows.  Since 1990, District 23 has provided a consistent program for riders of all abilities, whether a Future Champion or a Hall of Fame rider, to participate with their horses in the exciting world of gymkhana.  District 23’s show season is scheduled for 9 shows dates scheduled, beginning in October and concluding usually in early May.  Each show usually scheduled with 7 of the CGA’s 13 events to be run each day.

District 23 is a community club dedicated to the many horse people who enjoy participating in timed speed events on horseback.  It is a family club for all ages and we welcome everyone to come and participate.  First time participants or anyone who just wants to watch are always welcome!  

Daily High Point awards, Class placings, and Year End Awards are offered for riders at all levels.  You do not need to be a member of District 23 to participate in our shows, but you must be a member of CGA.  CGA and district membership applications are available at every show.
